A heartfelt, time-twisting spectacle that delivers some of the DCEU’s most emotional moments.
I didn’t expect The Flash to hit me as hard as it did. It starts out modest enough—Ben Affleck’s Batman makes a quick appearance with a new suit that doesn’t quite measure up to his previous looks in Batman v Superman or Justice League. But that’s okay—his role is brief, and the real story begins when Barry Allen decides to change time to bring back his mother.
And that’s where the film shines.
The emotional core of this movie is powerful. Barry’s desperation to save his mom isn’t just a superhero plot device—it’s deeply personal, and it resonates. His love for her drives every decision, and it’s portrayed with genuine vulnerability. One of the most touching scenes in the entire DCEU takes place in a grocery store: Barry, disguised, watches his mom from a distance and she hugs him—without knowing who he is. It’s subtle, heartfelt, and absolutely devastating in the best way.
Beyond the emotion, the film is packed with surprises and well-executed plot points. The multiverse concept is handled in a way that’s easy to follow, and Bruce Wayne’s explanation of time as a bowl of spaghetti (yes, spaghetti!) is actually kind of brilliant. It adds a unique flavor to the well-worn time travel trope.
Then there’s the ending. Barry finally clears his father’s name, and the alternate-universe reveal of Bruce Wayne is just the cherry on top. It’s bold, unexpected, and a perfect note to end on.
The Flash manages to blend humor, heart, and high-stakes action in a way that few superhero films have lately. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s absolutely worth the watch—not just for the spectacle, but for the soul behind it.
