Widgets
Up Next puts your next episode on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, following whatever airs next or pinned to one show. On the medium and large sizes, it also counts the episodes you’re behind on. This Week shows which of your shows air on which day over the next seven days, and Your TV puts your headline stat and two insights from your Stats at a glance.
Mark it watched without opening the app
Tick off an aired episode right on the Up Next widget or from its notification, or ask Siri and the Shortcuts app to do it for you. Tapped the widget by mistake? Undo it right there, for up to 10 minutes.
Your library, yours to keep
Export everything you have rated, watched and noted, as JSON or spreadsheet-ready CSV. Ratings, episode progress, notes and rewatch counts, all of it, in Settings under Your Library.
Share your Taste Snapshot
Your stats as a card worth sending: what kind of viewer you are, your numbers, your top genres, and the shows behind them.
Your Year in Shows
Open Stats to see your year in TV, in pictures. Your year’s posters fill the top of the screen, each month’s bar is built from the shows you watched that month, your top shows get their own poster panels, and each top genre comes with a fan of its shows’ posters. Every number is still there, from the hours you watched to your biggest binge day. Look back at earlier years too, and share it as a card. Top People shows who you spent the most time with, on screen and behind it, from the cast to the creators, writers and directors. Tap anyone to see the rest of their work.
Coming from TV Time?
Import your saved TV Time export and pick up exactly where you left off: every show you followed, every episode you watched, and the dates you watched them. Importing again never adds anything twice.
Insights that compare
Every number is measured against something: your own average, your last ten ratings, a typical month, the crowd. Plus the ones only TV can have, like whether you binge or space it out, and whether a show gets better after season one.
Trends and your Profile
Your viewing by month, your rating momentum, and how your genre mix is shifting. Your Profile shows what you are leaning into lately, your signature genre combos, your people, and what to watch next.
Coming from TV Time
Saved your TV Time export? Bring it here.
TV Time closed in July, but the file it emailed you still holds your history. Bring your shows and every episode you’ve watched into How to TV, with the dates you watched them.
1. Find your export
It’s the .zip TV Time emailed you when you requested your data, often named gdprdata.zip. Look in your email attachments or in Files.
2. Import it
In How to TV, open Settings, then Your Library, and tap Coming from TV Time? Pick the .zip as it is. If you already unzipped it, pick the folder or the CSV files instead.
3. Pick up where you left off
Shows you were watching keep their progress. Shows you followed but hadn’t started go on your Watchlist.
Your export is read on your device. Only show IDs and titles are sent to TMDb to find each show. Nothing you already have in How to TV is changed, and importing the same file again won’t add anything twice.

How to TV is built local-first, with private iCloud sync and no third-party accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking. Your shows, progress, and ratings are stored on your device and in your own iCloud, powered by TV data from TMDb.
