What it does
Your reading taste, learned.
Predicts how you’ll feel
A personal model trained only on your own ratings tells you whether a book is an Ugh, Good, Great, or Mind-Blown before you start. No percentages: a plain verdict like “You’ll love it” or “Worth a look”, and a sentence on why.
Bring your whole shelf
Import your reading history straight from a Goodreads, StoryGraph or Libby export. Your ratings, shelves and dates come along, and a Libby export brings every book you borrowed, right on your phone.
Scan your shelf
Point your camera at the barcode on any book to add it, then rate it right there. Standing at your bookshelf is the fastest way to your first predictions.

The same emoji verdicts
Rate everything on the How to Movie scale you already know: ☹️ Ugh, 😊 Good, 😀 Great, 🤩 Mind Blown.
A For You feed
For You is the first tab. The unread books in your library are ranked by how much you’ll love them, so your next read is always one tap away, and New this month and Popular right now show what everyone is reading, from the Apple Books top charts.
Reading Insights
A personal dashboard of your verdict mix, your best-loved authors, genres and series, your reading by year, and where your taste differs from the crowd.
Your year in books
Your year, told in covers. A wall of every book you finished, each month stacked with its books, your top authors with their covers, and the one you loved most. See how often we predicted your verdict, where you rated far from other readers, and how this year compares with last. Share it as a card, and look back at earlier years too.
A reading goal
Set how many books you want to finish this year, and see at a glance whether you’re ahead, on pace or behind, on For You, on your year screen and on the This Year widget.
Widgets
Currently Reading puts your Reading shelf on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, with each book’s cover and the day you’re on. This Year counts the books you’ve finished, against your goal if you’ve set one, or against this time last year. Both are free, and they keep up on their own.
Covers & details, filled in
Covers, synopses, and reader ratings arrive automatically from Open Library, Google Books, and Apple Books. No data entry.
Private iCloud sync
Your library, ratings, and shelves sync across your own devices through iCloud, so a new phone never means re-importing.
Yours to keep
Everything lives on your device. Export your whole library to a file any time, and dress your shelves in hand-picked book-cloth themes.
The feeling
Less “will I like it?” More “start this one next.”
It tells you how you’ll feel about a book before you commit to it.
Bring your Goodreads history over in one file and pick up where you left off.
Your shelves follow you to a new phone, no re-importing.
Privacy
Built on your taste. Yours to keep.
Next Chapter is built local-first, with no ads, analytics, or tracking. Your library and ratings live on your device and sync only to your own private iCloud. Predictions are calculated on your device; covers and details come from public book data at Open Library, Google Books, and Apple Books.
