Power Ballad (2026) ☹️

“Power Ballad” had the makings of a delightful comedy, buoyed by a talented cast led by Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Unfortunately, it misses the mark. Expectations were high for a story filled with laughter and catchy tunes, yet the film falls flat.

Rudd delivers his usual charm as a wedding singer, and his performance is one of the few highlights. However, the music fails to resonate. The main song is catchy, but it won’t hook the audience like “Pitch Perfect” and “Marry Me”.

The plot is decent but suffers from poor execution. While Rudd and Jonas have undeniable talent, their characters don’t fully explore their strengths, resulting in a film that feels like a squandered opportunity.

In all fairness a standout moment occurs during a late-night scene in a castle, where genuine connection and sharp writing momentarily shine, but such instances are too rare.

These shortcomings make the film difficult to recommend. While there are glimpses of potential, it’s not enough.
