Never Let Go is a decent watch, though it’s the kind of film I’d recommend when you don’t have anything else you’re particularly eager to see.
The movie evokes a bit of the intrigue of Shyamalan’s The Village, particularly in the way it plays with the unknown. Here, the growing question is whether something truly evil is out there or if it’s all in the characters’ minds. However, the execution doesn’t quite match the level of suspense it’s aiming for.
Halle Berry is, as always, a standout. Her commitment to the role is praiseworthy, and she brings depth to her character even when the story itself falls short. Unfortunately, the plot feels a little drawn out, and by the time you reach the climax, the payoff doesn’t quite deliver on the build-up.
I’d say this is a film to watch when you’re in the mood for something to fill the time. While the trailer may oversell it a bit, it’s not to the point of being a deal breaker. If you’re a movie lover like me, clocking in 100–120 films a year, this can serve as an enjoyable filler. Just keep your expectations in check, and you likely won’t regret giving it a go.
