Where do I even start? Longlegs isn’t your typical popcorn horror—it’s horror in its rawest form: deep, unrelenting, and utterly powerful. While it has only a few scenes of gore, its true strength lies in keeping you teetering on the edge of your seat, crafting moments so tense you might forget to breathe. This film isn’t just good—it’s horrifyingly great.
Maika Monroe’s portrayal of FBI Agent Lee Harker, a green but effective investigator, is reminiscent of Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs. What sets Harker apart is her uncanny ability to sense where wrong has been done—and by whom. It’s a fresh twist on the classic rookie-agent trope that fits perfectly within this story.
And then there’s Nicolas Cage. Just thinking about his performance gives me chills. Every element—the cinematography, direction, acting, and even the makeup—works in perfect harmony to create a character that embodies pure terror. Cage’s Longlegs has a Michael Myers-like presence; he doesn’t need to move much to unnerve the audience. His very presence on screen is enough.
The cast, the story, the execution—everything about Longlegs is exceptional. If you’re even remotely a fan of horror or thrillers, this is a top-shelf masterpiece.
