Long Shot (2019) 🤩

Long Shot is an absolute blast! It’s funny, charming, and somehow manages to pull off an over-the-top premise without ever feeling too cheesy.

Seth Rogen is mostly his usual self, but this time with a bit more restraint—and honestly? It works. He still brings his signature goofball energy, but it’s toned down just enough to make his character feel real rather than just a caricature. Watching him in a more grounded role while still delivering hilarious moments makes this performance one of his best.

Charlize Theron, though? She steals the show. She’s absolutely stunning in this role—not just in the way she carries herself, but in how effortlessly she blends poise, charm, and intelligence. She plays a polished, sophisticated politician, yet she never feels unapproachable. There’s an authenticity to her performance that makes her character believable, and the way she balances being both elegant and completely down-to-earth is just perfect.

And the chemistry? Surprisingly great. It’s not every day you see a rom-com pairing like Rogen and Theron, but somehow, they make it work. Their dynamic feels natural, and the romance, while improbable, never feels impossible. You actually root for them, which is crucial for any rom-com to succeed.

The comedy is completely over the top, but that’s part of the fun. What’s impressive is that despite how outrageous some of the humor gets, the movie never loses its emotional core. It’s funny without being too ridiculous, and it manages to keep the heart of the story intact.

Final thoughts? Long Shot is an unexpected gem. It’s hilarious, full of heart, and carried by two fantastic performances. If you love rom-coms with sharp comedy and a little bit of an edge, this one is absolutely worth your time.
