Karate Kid: Legends (2025) 😊

Fun fights, familiar beats—but this one doesn’t quite earn its black belt.

Karate Kid: Legends brings some high-energy moments and nostalgic callbacks, and overall, it’s a fun watch—especially if you’ve got a soft spot for the franchise. I remember watching the original Karate Kid movies growing up, though beyond the famous crane kick finale, most of the plot details are a blur. This new entry taps into that same spirit, but with mixed results.

The film features some slick, well-choreographed fight scenes that give it a bit of that classic Kung Fu movie energy. When the action hits, it hits hard—and it’s honestly a blast to watch. The only problem? There just aren’t enough of those moments. I found myself wishing the movie leaned further into the martial arts and let those sequences breathe a little more.

The story follows a pretty familiar formula: a kid with a troubled past and serious talent in martial arts ends up under the influence of a ruthless sensei, and things spiral from there. It works well enough, but at times it feels like a slightly cheesier remake of the original—with a few moments that stretch believability. One scene in particular, where all of Conor’s former senseis are afraid of him, felt more cartoonish than compelling.

That said, there’s still a lot to enjoy. The movie has heart, a strong cast, and a clear love for the legacy it’s building on. Fans of the franchise will likely enjoy seeing how it ties into the broader Karate Kid world, even if it doesn’t break new ground.

Karate Kid: Legends is far from a bad movie—it just doesn’t feel as polished or emotionally grounded as it could have been. Still, it’s a fun entry for fans of the series, with just enough kicks and callbacks to keep you entertained.
