Carry-On (2024) 😊

Carry-On is a fun, thriller that’s perfect for spicing up your weekend. If you enjoyed Red Eye (2005), this film will feel right at home. While some may feel the runtime drags, I found it to be just right—enough to build tension without overstaying its welcome.

A key ingredient in thrillers like this is the villain. They need to exude cold-hearted indifference, valuing human life as little more than a disposable tool. This is no easy feat for any actor, as it requires embodying that apathy fully—even down to the cold, dead eyes. Jason Bateman absolutely nails it, delivering a performance that’s perfect.

Taron Egerton is also strong as the TSA agent caught in a blackmail scheme, forced to allow a passenger and their luggage through security without issue. Egerton brings depth to his character, convincingly portraying a man disillusioned with life—except for his one bright spot, his girlfriend Nora (Sofia Carson). Though Carson’s screen time is limited, she commands attention whenever she appears, adding unexpected gravitas to her role.

If you’re a fan of mystery-thriller blends, Carry-On is right up your alley. It’s a solid, satisfying watch that delivers exactly what it promises.
