Bill Skarsgård is fantastic here. It’s been fun to see him take on so many different roles lately, and this one adds to his growing list of unique performances. He fully commits to the physicality of the role, bringing an intensity that keeps you locked in. Watching him navigate this chaotic world with near-silent brutality is impressive, and he proves once again that he’s got serious range.
The storytelling is unconventional. The audience is dropped right into the middle of the action with very little exposition, forcing us to pick up the pieces of Boy’s past as the film unfolds. It’s a bold choice, and while it might not work for everyone, it does keep things moving at a relentless pace. There’s no hand-holding here—just pure, adrenaline-fueled madness.
Speaking of madness, the action sequences are completely over the top, especially toward the end. This film leans hard into stylized, comic book-style violence, so if that’s not your thing, Boy Kills World probably won’t be either. But if you enjoy fast-paced, visually creative fight scenes with a touch of dark humor, there’s a lot to appreciate.
The trailer does oversell the film a bit, making it seem like it might have more depth than it actually does. But to be fair, it doesn’t oversell too much—what you see is pretty much what you get.
