I went into Borderlands with high hopes, even with the whole ‘video game adaptation’ thing. The trailer, especially Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt) getting doused in monster pee, had me in stitches!
Honestly, the cast was solid—each actor brought their A-game. But even the best performances couldn’t save a weak story. Rule number one with comedies: don’t put your funniest scene in the trailer (which they did). Rule number two: there should be at least two or three high-octane, laugh-out-loud scenes that make it impossible to pick a favorite (there aren’t).
The trailer hinted at another Guardians of the Galaxy-type franchise—exactly what audiences love. But this was a classic over-sell, under-deliver.
