Help for Next Chapter

Questions, bug reports, App Store review notes, and privacy questions can all point here.

Quick answers

How do I bring in my existing books?
Export your library as a CSV from Goodreads or The StoryGraph, then in Next Chapter open Search / Import and hand it the file. Your ratings, shelves, and dates come along.
Does my library sync between devices?
Yes. When you’re signed in to iCloud, your library, ratings, and shelves sync automatically across your own devices. No re-importing when you get a new phone.
Why don’t I see taste predictions yet?
Predictions need enough of your own ratings to learn from. Rate a good handful of books (a mix you loved and didn’t), then build your model in Settings.
Where is my data stored?
On your device, and in your private iCloud account for sync. Nothing is sent to the developer. Covers and descriptions are looked up from public book services.
I upgraded to Plus but the extra features aren’t showing.
Open Settings and tap “Restore Purchases.” If it still doesn’t appear, email us.
Some covers or details are missing.
Next Chapter fills these in from Open Library, Google Books, and Apple Books in the background. Give it a moment on a connection, or use “Refresh cover artwork” / “Sync book details now” in Settings.

Good details to include

  • Your iPhone or iPad model and iOS version.
  • Which screen had the issue.
  • What you expected to happen.
  • What happened instead.
