Movie Night Privacy Policy

Information the app stores

Movie Night stores the players you add (a name and an emoji), which clips and questions have been played, and your game history: who won each game night, the rounds that were played, and the scores. This information is stored locally on your device and nowhere else.

There is no account and no sign-in. The app does not use iCloud, so this information does not sync between your devices and is removed if you delete the app.

Apple Music

Name That Soundtrack plays full tracks from the Apple Music catalog using the Apple Music subscription on the device, through Apple’s own MusicKit player. Movie Night reads only what it needs to play a track and does not read your library, your playlists or your listening history.

Because the game plays real tracks, those plays appear in your own Apple Music listening history, the same as playing them in the Music app. That is Apple’s record on Apple’s service, not information Movie Night collects. You can turn it off for everything in Settings, under Music, Use Listening History.

Movie Trivia does not use Apple Music and needs no subscription or permission.

Movie information and posters

Film titles, years, ratings, directors, cast and composers come from a data file built from TMDb and bundled inside the app, so no request is made to look them up. Posters are loaded from TMDb’s public image service when a round needs one. Those requests carry no API key, no account and nothing that identifies you or your device.

Movie Night uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.

Information collected by the developer

The app does not collect personal information from you for the developer and does not transmit your players, scores or game history anywhere. If you contact support, the information you choose to send in that message may be used to respond to your request.

Analytics, ads, and tracking

Movie Night does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies, and it does not sell personal data. There are no in-app purchases.

Children’s privacy

Movie Night is a family game and is designed to be played with children, but it is not directed to children under 13 as defined by COPPA and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only thing a child’s name is used for is showing it on the scoreboard on that device.

With Family friendly mode off, the question and clip pools include films rated R, and posters and famous lines from those films can appear. Family friendly mode keeps everything to G, PG and PG-13 films.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes. If data practices change materially, this page should be updated before the new version is released.
