Quick answers

How do I make a wallpaper?
Tap Surprise me and a handful of finished wallpapers are built for you with nothing to choose. To build one yourself, pick a source (your ratings, watchlist, a franchise, a person, a genre, or a studio), choose one of the eight layouts, and tap Create. Images render at your device’s resolution.
Where do the posters come from?
Posters and film data are provided by TMDb, based on the movies in your rated list and watchlist.
Where are the wallpapers saved?
Generated images save into a Photos album you choose, so you can set any of them as your wallpaper straight from Photos.
Do I need a TMDb account?
Only to build from your own library. The Ready-made wallpapers, and any franchise or person wall, need no account at all. Signing in with TMDb lets the app read your rated movies and watchlist, and your sign-in stays on your device.
What are jobs and combined runs?
A job saves a full setup (source, filters, layout, and album) so you can rerun it in one tap. A combined run chains several jobs together and generates them in order.
Can it change my wallpaper automatically?
Two ways. The morning nudge, off until you turn it on in Settings, opens the app straight into Surprise me at the time you pick. Or, without opening the app at all, Movie Canvas adds a Shortcuts action that makes a wallpaper, which you can pair with the built-in Set Wallpaper step in a Personal Automation to get a fresh one on a schedule. Settings has the four-step recipe.
What is Surprise me?
A randomizer. It picks the layouts, the styles and the films for you and builds several wallpapers at once, as often as you like.
