Saturday Night (2024) 😊

Saturday Night is a movie that probably slipped under your radar unless you go to the movies frequently and make a point to catch the trailers that are shown.

The movie is meticulously crafted, with evident care in everything from the casting to the wardrobe. And the pace! It’s so fast it might leave you feeling a bit dizzy—but, surprisingly, that works in favor of the storyline. Who but Lorne Michaels (Gabriel LaBelle) could have envisioned, coordinated, and executed the whirlwind that is Saturday Night Live, let alone its first ever showing?

As someone who grew up watching iconic films in which the original SNL cast members shine, it was a real treat to see their personas brought to life on screen, adding a nostalgic charm to the film.

I can’t help but wonder what Lorne Michaels himself thinks about the movie. Even Jason Reitman, the film’s writer, director, and producer, isn’t sure if Lorne will ever share his reaction (as mentioned in Deadline). That mystery only adds to the intrigue.

All in all, Saturday Night is a high-quality, fast-paced look behind the scenes that’s well worth watching—whether you’re an SNL fan or just love a great story.
