Not perfect, but plenty of fun. Sometimes that’s all you need.
As summer blockbusters wrap up, Nobody 2 closes things out with a familiar but fun ride. I’ve long joked that August is where movies go to die, and while this year has given us some surprising releases, Nobody 2 wasn’t one of them.
Because this franchise comes from the producers of John Wick, the comparison is hard to avoid. Where the Wick sequels leaned into their relentless blood-soaked ballet, Nobody 2 takes a slightly different approach. Here we see Hutch trying to balance the fallout from the first film with his obligations at home. That focus on debt—both financial and emotional—adds weight early on, though it doesn’t fully land. For a movie like this to delve into heavier themes, it has to commit and pull the audience into that emotional space. Instead, Nobody 2 brushes past it quickly, moving us quickly to the amusement park of chaos.
Once the action kicks in, though, it’s exactly what fans came for. The fight scenes are wild, over-the-top, and hilarious. This is where the movie shines—the inventive choreography and tongue-in-cheek violence remind us why Hutch became such a standout character in the first place.
The family dynamics, however, don’t quite add much. The chemistry between Hutch and his wife feels undercooked, and the kids are mostly sidelined, as is Hutch’s dad. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it does leave parts of the story feeling thinner than they should.
At the end of the day, Nobody 2 isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. It’s good old-fashioned popcorn action—loud, fun, and just a little messy. It may not be as polished as its predecessor, but if you’re in the mood for a late-summer adrenaline rush, this one delivers exactly that.
